LHNC goes beyond expectations

March 4, 2019

Whenever there is extreme hopelessness, there is a predictable response…why bother, nothing is going to change. Over the years many groups with good intentions have attempted once or twice to change the conditions on the Fort Peck Reservation. But then they retreat, to find safer and easier circumstances to be of assistance.

The deepest scar in American history will not be healed overnight and it won’t be healed on its own.

Hundreds of times I have been personally asked “Are you Native American?” as if you have to have a certain ancestry to help people or a certain lineage to be humanitarian.

Last time I checked Abraham Lincoln was not Black. The people who hid Anne Frank were not Jewish. Viktor Frankl, writer of a Man’s Search for Meaning, helped all prisoners; Jewish, Baltics, Gypsies, and other undesirables.

When it comes to extreme hopelessness, there is no race, creed, or color. We are all connected and we are all one people.

If extreme hopelessness exists for any person on earth, it exists for all of us. We cannot conveniently turn our heads away as if we don’t know these kids and others like them live in 3rd world conditions. There is a ghostly remembrance of using armed conflict, genocide, and cultural suicide to subdue people who have something (land, resources, wealth, oil, gold) other countries want.

LHNC is above and beyond a charity. It’s about helping a group of people who have been dealt some rotten cards throughout history. Even though we can’t go back in time, we can work with the present generation towards a brighter future.

LHNC has no interest in meeting expectations. Everything we set out to do, we finish and exceed expectations.

One of the chief builders, that has traveled from Idaho for the past several years, actually built a model of the geodesic dome. It was a miniature version with each of the 64 panels numbered. Who does that?!

LHNC does!

We attract dedicated craftsmen, obsessive volunteers, and generous donors to exceed expectations, not merely meet them!

Won’t you join us?
