What is Boot Camp?
Boot Camp is the annual trek out to the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana to do community service, put on events, and generally have an amazing time with the kids who live on the reservation. Each year, Chiropractors and Naturopaths, their patients, and community members from all over North America put on a fundraiser to aid the Native Americans who live in Poplar, Frazer, Brockton, and Wolf Point.
The kids play games, listen to the live performance of Don't Quit Your Day Job, do arts and crafts, and more. Since a lot of the volunteers from LHNC are Chiropractors or Naturopaths, free adjustments and naturopathic treatments are provided for anyone that would like one! The kids on the Reservation look forward to these Fun Days all year long. All participants are provided with backpacks for their upcoming school year. Families in need will receive non-perishable food donations.
How can I get involved?
Fundraise and spread the word! The more people that know about the deplorable conditions on so many of the Reservations across America, the faster we can make a change. The hopelessness that plagues these great people has been generations in the making, so the time to take action to fight for our indigenous people is now! Donations are always accepted, but we start our big fundraiser for Boot Camp at the beginning of the summer. Feel free to create a team for our LHNC online fundraiser on the Crowdrise website. Get everyone you know involved, compete against your friends, or think of activities to put on as part of the fundraiser. This is a perfect way to link arms with community members to make a difference for America's first people.
In 2018 our Boot Camp fundraising efforts allowed us to build the first Greenhouse dome on the Reservation! This greenhouse will allow for the growing of fruits and vegetables but also serve as a learning tool for the children. To learn more about the greenhouse, click here!
Boot Camp 2019
With the help and generosity of many amazing people this past August, we were able to donate hundreds of backpacks and bags of food to those in need. This year we were able to put on two Fun Days, one in Wolf Point and one in Poplar! This brings the families and community together for a day of fun, music, and food. Our Chiropractic team adjusted over 1,000 children and adults! Our incredible fundraising efforts and three days of community service really made a difference for the people who live there. The goal of our annual summer mission trip to the Fort Peck Native American Reservation in Poplar, Montana is to restore hope, dignity, health, and to end hunger.
