How you can help

You could see it in the children’s eyes, especially in the early days of Love Has No Color. As we hugged the kids and waved goodbye, they were resigning themselves to the fact that they would never see us again. They had seen groups like this before; they come to the reservation, smother them with gifts and love, and then leave, never to be seen again. The one and doners. Why would Love Has No Color be any different?

But when next year rolled around, we were back at Fort Peck. And then again the next year. Finally, the kids started believing us when we said, “See you soon!”

Showing these kids hope when they’re younger will help them achieve brighter futures. Having people who come explicitly to demonstrate to these kids that they matter makes all the difference in the world. In the past 10 years, we’ve see higher graduation rates, more interest in life, and more participation in traditional tribal ways and values. Not to go back to the ancient ways, rather to allow their traditional values to guide them in a sometimes confusing, modern world. The world with all of its conservation and pollution issues could sure stand to hear from the original keepers of the earth. Now, more than ever, their voice is needed to remind the world that there are other considerations besides profit.

August 4th-6th are the dates of our most ambitious Boot Camp Extravaganza yet! We are looking for 100 volunteers of all ages to help us make this dream a reality. We need your help! We will be hosting a Fun Day in Poplar as well as a separate Fun Day for the first time in Wolf Point, several miles away. There will be pony rides, all you can eat food and drink, backpacks loaded with school supplies, Chiropractic and Naturopathic treatments, fitness pods, face-painting, sand art, street hockey, fitness, dunk tanks, the works!! We are also planning a bison feast in Wolf Point to kick off the event on the evening of the 3rd, followed by an indoor concert at the Wolf Point high school auditorium.

This year, we will be providing high quality, non-perishable food for families in need. This will be available at the Fun Day, but we will also be distributing the food via vans like meals on wheels to family after family. We will also be performing community service throughout the reservation. We want to help as many people in need, including elders.

We will also be traveling to the tribal prison to give Chiropractic adjustments and hand out care packages to the inmates, as well as put on a Johnny Cash Folsom Prison style concert for the inmates.

Maybe you’ve happened upon this website, maybe you’re a practice member of a Chiropractor, it doesn’t matter. What matters is calling up and registering your group. We are especially looking for people handy with tools. Calling all tradespeople!

Thank you for your help!
