Boot Camp 2017
Boot Camp is our annual trek out to the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana to do community service, put on events, and generally have an amazing time with the kids who live on the reservation. Each year, chiropractors, their patients, and community members from all over North America put on a fundraiser to aid Native Americans who live in Montana. Following the fundraiser, a
group of us go to the reservation in August and we invite you to be a part of it all. Remember, donations are always welcome, too.
The objective is to raise $150,000 for the following:
To install a new roof on the Chiropractic Clinic/Movie Theater
For repairs on 3 to 4 homes
To purchase 20 tons of high quality, non-perishable food for distribution while we are there and to establish a year round food bank for families in need
To purchase special, Nike Native American sneakers for the kids
To purchase 2,000 backpacks loaded with school supplies to give to the kids
A glimpse of the actual event:
Wednesday, August 9th: A Fun Day Carnival for the kids will be in Wolf Point from approximately 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Afterward we will clean up and do community service in either Wolf Point or Poplar.
Thursday, August 10th: A Fun Day Carnival for the kids will be in Poplar from approximately 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Afterward we will clean up and go to the jail to adjust and comfort the prisoners, which includes us putting on a Johnny Cash, rock-n-roll show for the inmates.
Friday, August 11th: The Summer Camp for the kids will be in Poplar from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This never done before, day-long summer camp will feature pro basketball and hockey players, celebrity author and mindfulness coach, George Mumford, learning traditional values and language, learning about Above the Line living, fitness initiatives, Kenny Smoker and much, much more. (Please note: these are approximate times and will be updated as we know more.)
Saturday, August 12th: This will be a full day of community service, starting at 8:00 a.m. and going until 6:00 p.m. (Please note: these are approximate times and will be updated as we know more). Activities will include cleaning elders' apartments and homes, lawn cutting and clean ups, delivering high quality, non-perishable food door-to-door, repairing homes, fabricating shelves, furniture, and decks and doing whatever is needed.
*** Public service activities will be going on for all four days. Some of these activities will be putting a new roof on the Chiropractic Clinic and Movie Theater, putting down floors, and going door-to-door with high quality, non-perishable food. We just found out that Kenny Smoker wants us to build an outdoor street hockey rink that can also be flooded during the winter months for ice hockey.
